When setting out to become an entrepreneur, it is best to heed the advice of those that came before you.

1. Identify Fruitful Opportunities
It is imperative that you learn how to identify opportunities while weighing potential benefits and taking in consideration of any risks. This is especially true for opportunities that others may not be rushing towards. This does not mean that it does not have the potential to be fruitful for you, simply review it and move forward and grasp it for yourself.
2. Let Your Focus be Actions NOT Words
If you are unable to [properly] demonstrate your ability to carry out ideas, an investment presentation or business plan holds little weight. Clientele want nothing more than to see your company’s mission statement and values flawlessly applied. Therefore, this needs to be kept at the forefront of your mind always. Also, it must be noted that a picture-perfect resume does not always translate into an employee that properly acts upon the intentions and qualifications that they listed.
3. Ensure That Your Vision of Success Is Clear
Start by asking yourself, “What does success look like?” Think beyond simply financial success. Most people contend that success is changing their community, or seeing their product on the shelves, or recovering their [initial] overhead costs. Remaining, clearly, on track, it is highly important that you maintain a clear vision. Keep [firmly] in mind how you want things to look as you achieve your goals and success.
4. Keep Learning
Do NOT deny your business or yourself the ability to grow, by denying the need to continue to learn. Even after achieving degrees of success, you will need to continue learning to sustain your current success while moving towards additional success. Additionally, listen to the experiences of others that have achieved success themselves. Learn from their mistakes as well as their achievements. If you are not one to want to base your learning on others, look inward and begin learning about aspects of entrepreneurship that you believe you need to improve upon.
5. Get Things Done
This may seem extremely simple, but procrastination can occur without you realizing it. In addition, there are a number of buddy entrepreneurs that spend countless hours marketing their business before they afford a proper amount of time and effort into the products or services that should be available. This also holds true for those that attempt to perform legal, graphic or web work themselves.
It is also important to note that as a business owner, you can NOT wear every hat. It is best for you to delegate duties that are not immediately related to your direct responsibilities to employees or contractors.
6. Hire Rock Stars ONLY
There is no way to exemplify greatness if your support team is less than extemporary. Therefore, you will need to ensure that you hire only the very best that present themselves to you.
